Founded by visionaries Richard and Bernard d'Offay, Takamaka rum is produced at
the Trois-Freres distillery, located in the Plaine Saint-Andre on the island of
Mahe. The Trois-Freres distillery, located in the Saint-Andre Plain on the island
of Mahe, began producing its first rums from the Seychelles in 2002. These rums
are called "Takamaka" and are named after one of the 23 districts of the island
to which they belong.
They are initially matured for three years in new French oak barrels and then
refined in a barrel that previously contained white Pineau des Charentes.
This process creates a rich aromatic diversity in which the aromas of the sweet
wine emphasize the exoticism of the rum.
