The Hearach is the second single malt whisky from the Isle of Harris distillery,
which has already gained international recognition with its Isle of Harris Gin.
In the production of both the gin and the whisky, the distillery places great
value on traditional craftsmanship, which is carried out with great care by a
young team of local distillers. From the first nosing to the manual operation of
the steam valves, every step is carried out with dedication and precision.
The soft water used for The Hearach comes from the Abhainn Cnoc a' Charrain
stream, which is fed by rainwater and flows over some of the oldest rocks on
earth. This water, which has an exceptionally low mineral content, contributes
significantly to the quality of the whisky. Added to this is the oceanic climate
of the Isle of Harris, which is influenced by the Gulf Stream and ensures stable
temperatures that have a positive effect on the maturation process.
For the latest bottling, only 100% carefully selected Oloroso sherry casks from
the renowned Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin in Andalusia were used, which gives the
whisky its special depth and complexity.
