Togouchi is produced by Chugoku Jozo, a distillery in the city of Togouchi in
Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. The distillery is located in a natural cave system
that was originally built as a railroad tunnel, but was later converted into an
ideal environment for maturing whisky. The cool, damp conditions in the tunnels
provide an optimal climate for maturing whisky, resulting in a product that is
rich in flavor and character.

An 8-year-old malt originating from Scotland is blended with a Canadian grain to
create a blend that is then matured for a further five years. As the temperature
in the tunnel is a constant 14 degrees Celsius, the master blender at the
Chugoku Jozo distillery decided that this unfinished railroad tunnel was the
ideal place for the maturation process. With Togouchi Kiwami, the company from
the Japanese mountain region of Chugoku Akiota Sanchi presents a blended whisky
that is both fruity and sweet.



"Kiwami" is Japanese and means something like high quality or special. These
unique maturation conditions allow the aromas and flavors of the whisky to
develop optimally, resulting in a distinctive and high-quality end product.
