The Vina Real Especial Rioja Gran Reserva DOC 2017 is a masterfully aged red
wine from the renowned Rioja Alavesa and comes from the cellars of the
prestigious Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana (CVNE). With an alcohol
content of 13.5% vol. and the long aging period in wood and bottle typical of a
Gran Reserva, this wine combines tradition, elegance, and depth in impressive
harmony. It embodies the essence of a classic Rioja style – complex,
multi-layered, yet drinkable and approachable.
The blend consists predominantly of Tempranillo, complemented by Graciano,
Mazuelo, and Garnacha, which together provide structure, fruit, and aromatic
diversity. After a careful hand-harvest, vinification takes place in stainless
steel tanks, followed by a minimum of 24 months of aging in French and American
oak barrels. The wine then rests for another 36 months in the bottle to develop
its silky elegance and profound complexity. The result is a Rioja with a classic
soul and remarkable maturity.
