THE PRODUCER
Bouchard Père & Fils, established in 1731, is one of the oldest and most
prestigious wine producers in Burgundy, France. Located in Beaune, the heart of
the Côte d'Or, this historic estate has a rich heritage that spans nearly three
centuries. Over the years, Bouchard Père & Fils has built an impressive
portfolio, owning over 130 hectares of vineyards, including 12 Grand Cru and 74
Premier Cru sites, some of the most revered in the region. The estate is
renowned for its meticulous winemaking and dedication to expressing the unique
terroirs of Burgundy, producing both red and white wines of exceptional quality.
Their wines, particularly those from Beaune and other esteemed appellations, are
celebrated for their elegance, complexity, and ability to age gracefully, making
Bouchard Père & Fils a cornerstone of Burgundy’s winemaking tradition.
THE WINE
Bouchard Père & Fils 'Beaune du Château' Premier Cru Blanc is a refined white
Burgundy crafted from a selection of Bouchard’s premier cru vineyard sites
around Beaune. Made exclusively from Chardonnay, this wine embodies the elegance
and complexity of the Côte de Beaune terroir. The limestone-rich soils
contribute to its bright acidity and minerality, while Bouchard’s winemaking
techniques—such as fermentation and aging in French oak—bring a subtle
creaminess and depth to the palate. Expect flavors of ripe citrus, white
flowers, and hints of toasted almond, with a balanced, rounded finish. This
Premier Cru Blanc is both versatile and age-worthy, offering an excellent
example of the finesse and quality of Burgundy’s white wines.

We choose our wines based on a range of criteria(seehow we choose our wines)of
which critic scores is justone. Rather than simply highlight the best score to
promote a wine, our average critic score is calculated from the scores provided
by several respected wine critics, who we follow for specific regions. They do
not represent all critic scores and, wherever possible, we try and give more
weight to more recent reviews. Where appropriate we consider market-based scores
like Global Wine Score or Wine Searcher Average scores.
As a rule, we look to offer wines that achieve a92/100average critic score or
better and frankly a lot of very good wines simply don’t make the cut. As a
high-end provider we want to reflect that positioning in the quality of wines we
offer. Such wines are only a tiny fraction of those generally on offer in the
market. We believe that an average score is a more conservative and
representative approach, but it is still subjective and only offered as a guide
to our customers, who will (and should) do their own research. We will add
individual critic scores to our website in the future.
