THE PRODUCER
Sabine Mollard, the grand-daughter of Marc Morey, now leads this flourishing
domaine,. Her winemaking skills have earned her the prestigious Burgundy award,
the ‘Trophie Jeunes Talents,’ and the respect of notable figures like the
Ramonet family, who regard her as an equal. Sabine strikes a balance between the
innovative approaches of her generation and the wisdom of established vintners
like Henri Boillot. Embracing a lutte raisonnée philosophy, her approach remains
flexible and free of rigid ideologies. Sabine, similar to Jean-Marc Roulot,
harvests early but with careful timing, which has clearly benefited her wines.
Domaine Marc Morey’s offerings, known for their fragrant elegance, display a
refined mineral edge, providing both depth and vibrancy across all levels.

THE WINE
The 2021 Domaine Marc Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers Premier Cru is a
standout white Burgundy made from Chardonnay grapes. This wine embodies the
region's characteristic finesse, offering a delightful balance of rich, buttery
texture and mineral complexity. Notes of lime, orange pith, and hints of almond
create a refreshing palate, complemented by a subtle, refined oak influence. The
wine’s vibrant acidity adds to its aging potential, making it an excellent
candidate for cellaring. It is particularly well-suited to pairing with rich
fish dishes, shellfish, or soft cheeses.

CRITICS SCORES
We choose our wines based on a range of criteria(seehow we choose our wines)of
which critic scores is justone. Rather than simply highlight the best score to
promote a wine, our average critic score is calculated from the scores provided
by several respected wine critics, who we follow for specific regions. They do
not represent all critic scores and, wherever possible, we try and give more
weight to more recent reviews. Where appropriate we consider market-based scores
like Global Wine Score or Wine Searcher Average scores.

As a rule, we look to offer wines that achieve a92/100average critic score or
better and frankly a lot of very good wines simply don’t make the cut. As a
high-end provider we want to reflect that positioning in the quality of wines we
offer. Such wines are only a tiny fraction of those generally on offer in the
market. We believe that an average score is a more conservative and
representative approach, but it is still subjective and only offered as a guide
to our customers, who will (and should) do their own research. We will add
individual critic scores to our website in the future.
