92 Points - Wine Enthusiast. Renovated in 1987 by the current owners, Canneto has a long history in Tuscany, and since 2017 all of their wines have been certified as organic. Their Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a blend of Sangiovese with a touch of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and offers exceptional value for one of Italy's premier wines. Wonderfully balanced with soft, fine grained tannins and generous fruit, the hallmark for all great Vino Nobile is its potential to age for several years, and this wine is no exception.
Tasting Notes
This wine is wonderfully balanced, offering generous fruity aromas. The tannins are fine, the bouquet is elegant and enticing. This soft Vino Nobile can be drunk after several years.
Wine Press Reviews
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Aromas recalling camphor, chopped herbs and blue flower come together in the glass. On the smooth palate, fine-grained tannins envelope raspberry jam, baking spice and coffee bean notes. Drink through 2027."
91 Points - Falstaff
"Powerful ruby with a slight garnet rim. Opens on the nose with notes of sour cherries and blood oranges. The palate has grippy tannins, accentuated spice components on the mid-palate, firm drive on the finish, slightly resinous."
About the Producer
During the mid-70s a few friends from the Zurich area, with a common passion for wine, began to regularly import table wine from Montepulciano. With time, the number of enthusiasts grew and we felt the desire to own their own wine estate. In 1987 the opportunity arose: a wine estate in Montepulciano, which was just what they were looking for, was for sale. Their enthusiasm for Vino Nobile and the long term projects persuaded the owner to sell it to us. Canneto AG, the founding company established in Zurich, took over the Azienda Agricola Canneto in Montepulciano.
