Chateau De La Maltroye Chassagne Montrachet 1Er Cru Clos Du Chateau 2022 (Case)
Vintage | 2022 |
Alcohol | 13.5% |
The exceptional quality of this wine is evident from the off. We were absolutely delighted to secure a small quantity of the Chateau de la Maltroye Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Clos du Chateau Monopole 2022. For us this is the signature wine of one of Chassagnes greatest producers, and the fact that its come from the glorious 2022 vintage aswell was a massive bonus. Being the sole owners of the Cru Clos du Chateau vineyard allows Jean-Pierre Cornut to showcase his immense talents with this wine. Powerful, intense, yet fresh and refined, this redefines what Chassagne Montrachet is capable of and is a wine all Burgundy lovers should try.

Taste
The exceptional quality of this wine is evident from the off. The light gold colour has highlights of green-gold rather like a Grand Cru Chablis. The nose offers a combination of creamy vanilla, crushed nuts, citrus, honeydew melon, and dried apple. The palate is rich and weighty as youd expect, but the level of freshness is remarkable. Reminiscent of a Puligny Montrachet only with more power, lemons, pears, peaches, hazelnut paste and greengages come together in a fantastically harmonious fashion. Drink now with meaty white fish, heavily seasoned poultry or fine yellow cheeses, or keep for a year or two and enjoy its mellow charms on its own.

Owned by the Cornut family, Chateau de la Maltroye is acknowledged as a leading producer of Chassagne Montrachet. Their holdings include some of the most important Premier Crus and they even have a small parcel of vines in the Grand Cru Batard Montrachet. The current winemaker, Jean-Pierre Cornut, has a genius for balancing Chassagnes natural power and generosity with acidity and structure to gives wines that offer another level of poise and elegance.
