Made from a blend of two top quality parcels situated in Puligny Montrachet and completed by village appellation grapes, this Bourgogne Chardonnay is very characteristic of the wines from Côte de Beaune. Selected grapes are hand-picked and then gently crushed in a pneumatic press. Fermentation is undertaken without the direct addition of artificial yeasts, the wine is then matured for about 12 months in casks (15 to 20% new oak) and then blended in stainless steel vats for several weeks before bottling.

About the Producer

Domaine Decelle-Villa was started in 2008 when two distinguished winemakers from other regions of France decided to pool their talents and produce high quality Burgundy wines. Olivier Decelle is the vigneron behind Mas Amiel in Roussillon, and he also revived Château Jean Faure in Saint-Émilion. Pierre-Jean Villa was part of a boutique Rhône negociant, and he is also a Rhone Valley vigneron. Now they have purchased and restored an historic 19th century cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges along with about 20 acres of vineyards in various Burgundy locations. They also source grapes from Gevrey-Chambertin to Chassagne-Montrachet for their Domaine Decelle-Villa venture. The domaine makes more than a dozen wines, from a Grand Cru and Premiers Crus to village and regional appellations.

Taste

Winemakers tasting notes: Decelle-Villa Bourgogne Chardonnay is light and frank coloured with mineral and citrus aromas. On the palate, freshness and vivacity are underscored by fruity and slightly toasted notes with nicely melted oak. It goes perfectly well with onion tarts, seafood platters and fish, but can also be served on its own as an aperitif.
