About the Producer
Dehesa de los Canónigos is one of the great historical estates of the Ribera del Duero. Located in Pesquera de Duero, its name refers to the first owner, the Council of the Cathedral of Valladolid, composed of 22 canonic monks.
The Dehesa de los Canónigos winery stands out for its architecture, the naves were rebuilt little by little, until housing what is the winery today.
After passing through several hands, in 1931 it fell into the hands of the Cid family, the brothers Arturo and Ildefonso, married to Amalia García and Rosario Alonso respectively, who were the owners of Dehesa de los Canónigos until the 60s, when they sold the farm.
Dehesa de los Canónigos is located in the Duero Valley, halfway between Valbuena and Pesquera de Duero, within the so-called Ribera Golden Mile.

97 Points Decanter - Outstanding Wines
"Understated elegance on the nose, keeping its fresh blackcurrant fruit notes despite very long oak ageing, together with delicate leathery and fungal aromas, spice and liquorice. The wine shows greatness, that unmatched capacity of a few wines in Ribera del Duero to develop very complex flavours and a silky texture after many years of ageing in oak barrels. This is a wine that one experiences more emotionally than physically. Top. It is a rare cuvée, made only in exceptional vintages (the preceding one was produced in 2001), with grapes from an 80-year-old vineyard."
