A blend of two vineyard parcels, Les Planchots and Les Pimentiers, yields a unique combination. While one boasts stony, well-draining soil, the other features a clayey, less profound terrain. The vines, with an average age surpassing 60 years, and some exceeding 90 years, bear modest yields. However, their grapes are distinguished by remarkable ripeness and intense aromatic concentration.

Taste

With a medium intensity colour, the Savigny-Lès-Beaune of the Domaine Decelle & Fils offers an elegant bouquet with morello cherry and blackcurrant dominance. The mouth is supple and fleshy and will evolve with the years towards notes of undergrowth and spices.

About the Producer

Domaine Decelle-Villa was started in 2008 when two distinguished winemakers from other regions of France decided to pool their talents and produce high quality Burgundy wines. Olivier Decelle is the vigneron behind Mas Amiel in Roussillon, and he also revived Château Jean Faure in Saint-Émilion. Pierre-Jean Villa was part of a boutique Rhône negociant, and he is also a Rhone Valley vigneron. Now they have purchased and restored an historic 19th century cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges along with about 20 acres of vineyards in various Burgundy locations. They also source grapes from Gevrey-Chambertin to Chassagne-Montrachet for their Domaine Decelle-Villa venture. The domaine makes more than a dozen wines, from a Grand Cru and Premiers Crus to village and regional appellations.
