Domaine Gault Bourgogne Chardonnay 2022 was produced from 100% Chardonnay grown in the Côte Chalonnaise. An excellent introduction to Sébastien Gaults wines, it shows the generosity and style that southern Burgundy winemakers can achieve when they have old vines and modern equipment. Fresh and fruit-driven, the outstanding 2022 vintage added an extra level of complexity and a sweeter tone than usual.

Taste

Sébastien believes in letting his wines character shine through. His Bourgogne Chardonnay 2022 is bright, fresh and crisp. The bouquet is filled with citrus fruits, a touch of white flowers and natural vanilla. Tangy and dry, a couple of years of bottle age has reduced the freshness considerably and there are now peach, pear, and honeydew melon notes alongside the lemon and green apple that were its youthful signatures.

About the Producer

The Gault family have owned and worked vineyards in Barizey in the southern Burgundy canton of Givry since the 1700s. They now own 27 hectares of vines which are spread across the Côte Chalonnaise appellations of Rully, Mercurey, Givry and Bouzeron. They also produce an excellent Bourgogne Blanc from some of their younger vines. Under the stewardship of Sébastien Gault, the domaines wines reputation has soared and they are now amongst the most sought-after of the Côte Chalonnaise.
