90 Points - Wine Enthusiast. This Côte de Nuits-Villages comes from vines with an average age of 50 years of age located in Brochon, between the communes of Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin, at a place called Queue de Hareng. The soil of this tiny 0.5 ha plot is composed of hard limestone stones mixed with a silty matrix which gives the grapes a nice firm texture. Tart berry and hints of toast, the palate, however, is a picture of rounded, almost luscious ripeness. Tannins lend a velvety texture and hold the richness in check alongside freshness.

"A shy nose needs lots of swirling to reveal tart berry and hints of toast. The palate, however, is a picture of rounded, almost luscious ripeness. Tannins lend a velvety texture and hold the richness in check alongside freshness. This is balanced, juicy and round." ANNE KREBIEHL MW
About the Producer
Bernard Bouvier has 17 hectares under vine in and around Gevrey, Fixin and Marsannay where he is president of the local syndicate. He has now moved to, and recently extended, state-of-the-art cellars just north of Gevrey and the quality of his wines is now absolute top division.
Vines average 50 years old. Yields are extremely low and the domaine is run on organic principles. Everything is hand picked and Bernard is increasingly employing a higher percentage of whole bunches. Fermentation of the reds involves a long, cold maceration and a gentle extraction what Bernard calls an infusion.
