92 Points - Wine Enthusiast. Produced by the legendary De Boisseyt family whose Domaine was formed in 1797, and maker of a series of 96 points wines, this Saint-Joseph 'Les Garipelées' is made from a unique blend of 2 parcels of Syrah with very different characteristics. 'Les Éguets' : 30 year old vines on Muscovite granite and 'Les Vesse' : 40 year old vines on Gneiss rock. The tannins are supple and silky, the body is powerful and voluptuous and the finish ends with toasted notes from the barrel ageing. The resulting wine is a lovely full bodied, aromatic wine and absolutely superb wine.
About the Producer

Family run for six generations by the Chol family, and now the Decelle Family, Romain Decelle aims to convert the entire estate to organic viticulture and re-establish Domaine De Boisseyt as one of the great Northern Rhone producers alongside Guigal and Chapoutier.

"Sourced from 35-year-old vines planted on a granite slope, this ripe, cassis-scented sip is anchored by deep streaks of minerality and a zesty lift of acidity. Matured 18 months in barrique (15% new), it's an opulent, welcoming Syrah studded with lip-staining blackberry and blueberry flavors and soft, yielding tannins. Just approaching peak now, the wine should hold through 2027 at least. "
