Redoma was Niepoort's first red wine, presented for the first time in 1991. It is like the Douro, «with great character and personality». Redoma Red is produced from several vineyards in the Cima Côrgo region that are over 60 years old, mostly facing north, where the different varieties are planted in the same vineyard as was common in the region and where Tinta Amarela, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cao. Full and concentrated, with present but polished tannins, it combines the austerity and authenticity of a Douro with its earthy and balsamic character typical of its terroir, with the characteristic freshness of Niepoort wines. In the mouth it is lively and elegant with a very well defined structure, long and complex, combining concentration and freshness with great harmony. Ends very persistent. Great aging potential.
