This estate has been owned by the Macedo Pinto family since the 18th Century and now has 25 hectares of vineyards in the renowned Cima Corgo region, home to some of the finest port-producing quintas. Indeed, Espinho has a history of selling its wine to port houses and still sells some to Taylor's. Winemaking is now supervised by Jean-Huges Gros, who has extensive experience in Burgundy, Champagne and California as well as Portugal. Traditional Douro varieties predominate, and this is a wonderful example (picking up 97 points in the 2018 Decanter Awards), vinified in granite 'lagares' and partially aged 6 months in French oak: dark, structured berry fruit, some sweet spice, full and expressive with soft tannins.
