Relatively light but structured Zweigelt from musician turned wine educator turned winemaker, Ferdinand Mayr. Between 1990 and 2002 he was a music teacher, but as early as 1994 he was named top wine expert in Austria, going on to be named "Lecturer of the Year" by the Austrian Wine Academy in 2008 and 2018. Ferdinand began making his own wines in 2009, sourcing grapes from excellent vineyards around the country. This Zweigelt comes from Burgenland and has the classic sour and sweet cherry flavours as well as very soft tannins.
