One of the most under rated wine regions in Europe would have to be Burgenland in Austria. Its fast becoming known for producing high quality and complex red, white and sweet wines. Typical white grape varieties will be Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc and red will be Blaufrankisch, Zweigelt, St Laurent and some small scatterings of Pinot Noir. Andreas Gsellmann is a small independent winemaker whos vineyards are located in the South Eastern part of Burgenland. Andreas makes all his wines by hand and does not use any artificial sprays and chemicals in the vineyard. All his wines are certified organic and made in small quantities. We purchase direct from him and import into the United Kingdom. Gsellmann Tu Tisch Rose is a great summer wine. Expect lots of fresh strawberry, raspberry and hints of cherry. It will have a lush mouth feel and pair well with grilled chicken or pork on the bbq.
