The distillery A.H. Riise is located on St. Thomas Island, an American Virgin Island in the Caribbean. Before this island became an American territory, it was a Danish colony. Around the 1840s, the pharmacist Albert Heinrich was not only allowed to open a pharmacy but also to produce alcohol.
This A.H. Riise Rum celebrates the Nordic Industrial, Agricultural & Art Exhibition in Copenhagen in 1888, which brought together the best of art, industry and agriculture from the 5 Nordic countries.
This exhibition was based on the great exhibition in London in 1851 and more than 1.4 million people visited the exhibition in Copenhagen during the 6 month opening period.
It was exactly at this exhibition that A.H. Riise XO Copenhagen was awarded a gold medal.
The blend contains rums aged between seven and 21 years in selected barrels. The barrels were stored on islands in West India and Central America.
