This Ballantine's matured in selected American oak barrels. The barrels were carbonised twice beforehand - this process is known as 'hard firing', hence its name. The Hard Fired was created by master blender Sandy Hyslop.Tasting notes:Colour: Amber. Nose: smoke, spices, ripe sweet fruits, pears, blackcurrants, vanilla, toffee. Taste: Smooth, strong, balanced, smoky, vanilla, spices, honey, apples, liquorice. Finish: Long lasting, slightly spicy, vanilla.
