Gilors is Gaelic and means "golden water". The Henrich distillery from the small Hessian community of Kriftel in Germany started producing whisky in 2008. The small family business has a lot of experience with barrel storage of fruit brandies and this gave them the idea to produce their own whisky. It is important to the brothers Holger and Ralf Henrich to create a completely own, distinctive taste. For the production they use Krifteler water, a mixture of Franconian as well as Scottish peat malt and small re-used barrels. The Gilors Port Wine Cask Single Malt Whisky matures for 5 years in Andalusian port wine casks. Distilled: November2015 Bottled: January 2021 The bottling is limited to 628 bottles. Tasting notes:Color: Amber. Nose: Strong, spicy, pickled cherry, notes of dark chocolate, wood tones. Taste: Rich, fruity, powerful, notes of port, malt, cherries, chocolate, almonds. Finish: Long lasting, tannins, bitter almond.
