Laphroaig is a whisky distillery on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay and is owned by the Japanese-American Beam Suntory Group. The distillery's buildings are classified in the Scottish heritage lists. In the production of Laphroaig, barley malt is dried over a peat fire. The peat gives the whiskey its strong smoky aromas. Maturation takes place for 10 years in charred former bourbon casks. The bottling is done without additional dye, at cask strength. Bottled: December 2021 Batch: 015 Tasting notes:Color: Yellow-brown. Nose: Sweet, slightly charred, cereal, oak aromas, pipe tobacco, leather, nutmeg, vanilla. Taste: Sweet-spicy, smoky, vanilla, toffee, sea salt, cinnamon and pepper. Finish: Long lasting, spicy. Drink the single malt neat, on ice or with a drop of water. The water highlights the taste of peat and sea salt.
