Villa Rosso was first produced in 1928 by Niccolò Antinori, the father of Piero Antinori. In 2001, Piero Antinori changed the name from Villa Rosso to Villa Antinori. This red wine is aged for 12 months in French, Hungarian and American oak barrels. After bottling, the wine is stored for another eight months until it is sold. Tasting notes:Deep ruby red with garnet reflections in the glass. In the nose intensive and complex after sour cherries and plums, mint, boxwood and black pepper. At the palate full-bodied and round with supple tannin. Long lasting and light in the finish. Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Syrah. Maturation: French and Hungarian oak barriques. Soil: sand, chalk. Closure: Natural cork. Drinking temperature: 16°C. Storage potential: Until 2028. The wine harmonizes very well with game and veal.
