The Oban Distillery was founded in 1793 in the west of Scotland, the Highlands. After the distillery was founded, more and more people settled near the harbour every year. The owners at the time failed to secure building plots around the distillery and suddenly the distillery was surrounded by houses. To this day Oban produces no more than 700,000 litres of alcohol a year and still with just two stills. Today, the Oban Distillery is one of the smallest distilleries in the world and its bottlings are also known as "Classic Malts" by Diageo. The 'The Destillers Edition of the Classic Malts Selection' contains single malt whiskies from seven different distilleries in Scotland. All bottlings receive an additional maturation in different casks, which are selected by the Master Distiller of the respective distillery. The Distillers Edition of the Oban distillery receives a finish in Montanilla Fino sherry casks. Distilled: 2007 Bottled: 2021 Tasting notes:Colour: Amber. Nose: Fresh and fruity, sweetish.
