Founded in 2017, The Oxford Artisan Distillery grows grain in a radius of 80 kilometers around the university town of Oxford, which is used after harvesting for the production of the whiskey. Rye, wheat as well as barley are harvested using sustainable methods dating back to the 1800s. Weeds are controlled naturally using clover to best preserve the fields. The distillery's two stills, which are named Nautilus and Nemo, were handmade by South Devon Railway Engineering. This whiskey is double distilled and then aged in New American Oak Casks. Tasting notes:Color: Golden yellow. Nose: Sweet, fruity of bananas, orange marmalade, hints of caramel, walnuts, vanilla. Palate: Fruity, chocolate, caramel, spices, sourdough. Finish: Long lasting, rye, cloves, nutmeg. Enjoy this whiskey neat, with ginger ale or Angostura bitters.
