Since the foundation of the Balvenie distillery there have been hardly any changes; the Single Malts are still produced in the traditional way.
The Balvenie, with its sister distillery Glenfiddich, is still independent and family owned by its founders.
The 15-year-old Balvenie is stored for 15 years in a single ex-sherry barrel made of European oak.
All bottles are marked with the barrel number and a bottle number. - A maximum of 650 bottles are filled per barrel!
Colour: Amber.
Nose: Christmas cake, icing sugar, syrupy, dried fruit, cherries, nuts, nutmeg, flamed orange peel, ginger, plums.
Taste: Nutty, slightly bitter, sherry, bread, cocoa, oranges, vanilla. Fruitcake, malt.
Finish: Long lasting, complex.
