Matthew Gloag, the namesake grandson of the founder, took over the family business 96 years after its founding in 1800. One year later, he created a new blend, which he called "The Grouse Brand" (Grouse = grouse) with the expectation that many hunters would stop over in Perth during the hunting season. His daughter designed the matching label with the Scottish national bird. The whisky immediately sold so well that within just a few years they added "The Famous" to the name and simply dropped the "Brand" designation. And so the popular whisky is called until today: The Famous Grouse! The large bottle of the Famous Grouse is supplied with a swivel stand made of metal, which allows the metered pouring even from this large bottle. Tasting notes:Colour: Amber.
