Charanda is a Mexican spirit protected by a "Denominacion de Origen" (D.O.) and produced in the state of Michoacán in west central Mexico. The Pacheco family has been producing high-quality Charanda for more than 111 years at Casa Tarasco in the town of Uruapan, in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. The "Uruapan" Charanda brand pays homage to the town of the same name, where the Pacheco family has a long, rich history. Uruapan Blanco is a blended rum that is 50% sugar cane juice distilled in a copper still and 50% molasses distilled in a French still. The sugar cane variety used is called Saccharum officinarum and is grown at an altitude of 4,180 feet above sea level in volcanic soils, also known as "Charanda" by the locals in Purépecha. Tasting notes:Color: Clear. Nose: Sweet, salty, sugar cane juice. Taste: Sweet, lime, basil, honey, white tea, notes of salt aromas. Finish: Long lasting. Charanda can be enjoyed like any other rum: neat, on the rocks or even as an ingredient for a cocktail.
