The Wemyss Distillery is based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Wemyss (pronounced "Wiems") means something like "cave" in Gaelic. As an independent whisky bottler, Wemyss brings both single cask bottlings from well-known distilleries and blended malt bottlings to the market. Velvet Fig is a small batch bottling with deep rich fruit flavours, a velvety smooth mouthfeel and a complex wood character. Blend: - 55% first fill ex-sherry hogsheads; 9x first fill ex-sherry European oak hogsheads. - 45% First Fill Ex-Sherry Butts; 6x First Fill Ex-Sherry Butts from European Oak Limited to 9,750 bottles. Tasting notes:Colour: Dark gold. Nose: Red and black berry fruits, figs covered with milk chocolate, hints of marzipan, walnuts, toffee. Taste: Fruits, ripe figs, dates, apricots, raisins, sultanas, milk chocolate, nutmeg, ginger, sweet walnuts. Finish: Long lasting, complex, cinnamon, pipe tobacco, spices. Best enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as an Old Fashioned cocktail.
