The Alberto Loi Estate was established at the end of the forties by Alberto Loi, born into a family of wine cultivators, producers and traders. The present owners, Alberto Lois boys, constitute the third generation of the family devoted to the production of Cannonau wine, a grape imported from Spain in the 14th century and which found an ideal location in Sardinia. The estate is located in Ogliastra, the east-central region of Sardinia, the most celebrated of the entire island for wine production. Nibaru is the name of a local wild bushplant called spaccasassi (literally from Italian stone breaker) with a very herbaceous taste, which can be detected in some of the wines of Cantina Alberto Loi, especially in this Nibaru. A captivating nose with flowery perfumes of red flowers, as well as strong cherry-fruity notes and delicate minerality, combined with a gentle spiciness.
