Distillery founder John Duff traveledto Kentucky and South Africa in pursuit of whisky adventures, returning to Scotland in 1898 to build the BenRiach Distillery. BenRiach became independent in 2004 by BenRiach Distillery company limited, where it allowed the distillery to experiment with several interesting wood finishes and continue to produce whisky from both peated and non peated malted barley.

It is in his adventurous spirit that BenRiach bodly approaches the art of distillation and cask maturation, pushing the boundaries of malt alchemy like no other.
The distillery is also one of the two remaining distilleries in Speyside to distill whisky using malted barley from its own on-site floor maltings, a time honoured craft that is celebrated for one month each year.
