"Our Small Block Series Collector's Cuvée is a unique treat inspired by the blends crafted during our annual Blending Party each April. For this vintage, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon dominate with Malbec and Petite Verdot added to create a perfect harmony. This bold wine is deep and rich in color and offers aromas of black cherry, wild mountain blackberries and hints of vanilla oak. Rich and juicy upon entry, delicious black currants and black plum play on the palate with well-integrated tannins and notes of cocoa and fresh ground coffee presenting on the long finish."

A pioneer by nature, Donald Hess was determined to defy convention and pursue winemaking at elevation, so in 1978, he established The Hess Collection Winery on the site of one of the regions oldest wineries on Mount Veeder in the Napa Valley. Although few in Napa Valley were cultivating vines at elevation, Donald Hess believed the volcanic slopes of Mount Veeder provided the ideal combination of soils and microclimates to yield elegant wines with rich, complex flavors.
