Definitely Cabernet on the nose, with a footprint nearer to California than Bordeaux, dark berries and cassis and notes of chocolate and herbs with soft rounded tannins and plenty of length
Carpineto was founded in 1967 by Antonio Zaccheo and Giovanni Sacchet originally to make modern style Chianti. Their vision has expanded somewhat, now with five wineries, two in Chianti one in Montepulciano one in Brunello and one in Maremma.
The excellent Farnito Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from two sites, the small high lying Gaville Estate in eastern Chianti, where it is vinified, and their estate in Montepulciano. Each site is fermented separately the aged in small oak barrels before bottling in January and 8-12 months further bottle aging before release.
Definitely Cabernet on the nose, with a footprint nearer to California than Bordeaux; dark berries and cassis and notes of chocolate and herbs with soft rounded tannins and plenty of length.
Style: full bodied, complex, powerful
Maturity: drinking well but will keep too
