Les Griottes comes from Val Joanis' highest vineyard. Elegant and powerful, this is a serious alternative to a Northern Rhône Syrah at a great price.
Val Joanis' Les Griottes comes from their highest vineyard at 450m. Here the clay and limestone soils are littered with the large stones 'Galet' usually found in Chateauneuf du Pape, which warm the Syrah vines and give perfect ripeness.
The grapes, predominately Syrah with 10% Grenache, are given a long maceration to extract colour and then aged for 10 months in 225lt barrels. Elegant and powerful, this is a serious alternative to a Northern Rhône Syrah at a great price.
Style: medium-full bodied, elegant, rich, spicy
Maturity: drinking well now but could age too
