The impressive Chiave di Saletta comes from a parcel of 6 hectares planted with the classic Sangiovese 50% along with Cabernet Franc 20%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20% and Merlot 10%
Villa Saletta is a 700 hectare estate set among the rolling hills of the north western corner of the Chianti region. Owned since 2000 by British financier Guy Hands who brought in wine maker and manager David Landini to oversee the regeneration of 22 hectares of vines. The Chiave comes from a parcel of 6 hectares planted with the classic Sangiovese 50% along with Cabernet Franc 20%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20% and Merlot 10%. The grapes are crushed and fermented in a mix of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels before being aged for 14 months in oak barrels 40% new. This is impressive with real depth and length, dark fruits on the nose with hints of tobacco, mint chocolate and leafy herbs from the Cabernet contingent.
