Global warming has helped the high lying Auxey-Duresses region to ripen regularly and is now an exciting option for 'value' Côte d'Or White Burgundy.
Auxey-Duresses sits in the hills above Meursault and in days past only ripened in the best of vintages. Due to Global Warming this area is coming into its own as an alternative to the now expensive Saint-Aubins. The Les Boutonniers vineyard abuts Meursault's Meix Chaveax and provided excellent value in comparison.
Domaine Lafouge is run by 6th generation Gilles Lafouge who farms his old vines all but organically. The grapes are crushed and fermented with their natural yeasts and aged in mostly old oak giving a light touch to this lovely white burgundy.
Style: medium-full bodied, complex, dry, elegant
Maturity: drinking now but could keep too
