The Gala 1 which is a blend of 85% Malbec with 10% of Tannat and 5% Petit Verdot to balance the plummy Malbec fruit with some herbal dark fruited structure
For close to 120 years, the Arizu family has made its wines under the name of Luigi Bosca, owning over 680 hectares of vines spread over seven separate vineyards in high lying Mendoza region they can draw on a unrivalled selection of fruit for their range. Their excellent Gala 1 is an interesting blend of 85% Malbec with 10% Tannat and 5% Petit Verdot these additions balance the ripe Malbec fruit with some more complex, structured, herbal dark fruited flavours. The grapes are sourced from three of their seven Mendoza vineyards; Finca Los Nobles, at 1050m their oldest with 90 year old Malbec and Petit Vedot vines, Finca La Linda, at 960m with up to 70 year old vines, Malbec and Tannat and Finca l’España, at 820m with 40+ year old vines, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Each varietal is fermented separately in stainless steel, then just the fruitier Malbec is aged in oak barrels for 14 months before the whole is blended and bottled then rested for another 6 months before shipping. Offering a deep colour in the glass with mineral dark berries and herbs on the nose with mouth filling palate of bramble and mulberry fruit with herbal tannins with dark chocolate and espresso notes and plenty of length.
