Charles Smith Washington State

In 2006, Charles Smith created Charles Smith Wines: The Modernist Project, which centres around the trend that most people generally consume wine without delay. The intent is to create wines to be enjoyed now, but with typicity of variety (Merlot that tastes like Merlot) and true to the place of origin. The wines are full of flavour, balanced, and approachable.

Contents of Case:

1 x Eve Chardonnay - Eve is pure, tempting, and undeniably Washington State. With fresh, fruity flavours and a crisp, bright mouthfeel reminiscent of Washington States famous apples, this dry Chardonnay has been winning awards ever since its grapes left the garden. True to Chardonnay. Dry, creamy and smooth, with a multitude of flavours and aromas. Asian pears, Honey Crisp apple, and lemon curd with minerality that takes this heavenly wine to the next level. Pairs well with garlic fries, grilled halibut with pineapple salsa.

1 x Kung Fu Girl Riesling - It takes an unconventional winemaker to make a totally unexpected dry Riesling. One night, Charles was eating Chinese takeout and watching a fight scene in a notorious martial arts film when he had an idea: a killer white wine made to be paired with Asian food. Just like that, Kung Fu Girl was born. White peach, mandarin orange and apricot are delivered with a core of minerality that makes this dry Riesling shimmer with energy and freshness. Another epic vintage of Kung Fu Girl. Pairs well with Spicy ramen, Sriracha pork tacos and Chinese takeout.

A self-taught winemaker, Charles Smith is a true artisan and a pioneer in the wine world. In 2008, K Vintners was recognised by Wine & Spirits magazine as one of the Best New Wineries of the Last Ten Years, and as Winery of the Year in their annual buying guide. In 2009 Food & Wine magazine awarded Charles Winemaker of the Year and in 2010 Seattle Magazine recognised Charles as their Winemaker of the Year.
