Tempranillo is a thick-skinned, deeply-coloured grape variety that gives juicy strawberry, spice and leather notes to the great red wines of Rioja and Ribera del Douro. It's also a key grape for making Port. The grape makes wines that can age very well, developing leathery, oaky (vanilla, spice) aromas and flavours with a few years in-bottle.

Contents of Case:

  • 2 x Bodegas Muerza - A light and fruity red wine from the Rioja region of Spain, with strawberry and raspberry notes. Drinks well on its own and pairs nicely well with pork, venison, beef, mature cheeses and typical Spanish dishes such as a meaty Paella.
  • 2 x Palacio de Ontono - A soft and juicy, light-bodied red wine from Rioja, with red fruit notes. Easy drinking, and pairs well with red meats and medium to mature cheeses.
  • 2 x Rioja Vega - A versatile red wine from the Bodegas Vega stable. Made from low-yielding Tempranillo grapes grown on the alluvial soil of the Rioja Alta and Alavesa sub-regions, the 2 better regions that annually make a more perfumed, aromatic and concentrated style of Rioja. Bright ruby red, dark and elegant - the nose is forward, developed and mildly jammy, offering notes of boiled red and black fruits, spice and leather. Delicious with veal, roast pork and hearty veggie dishes such as nut roast or bean casserole. Vegan friendly wine, easy drinking wine. Pair with fresh clams, mussels, and a white wine sauce.
