Ivo Duboković is Croatias leading boutique winemaker and certainly one of the most serious one in Croatia. His vineyards are located on the island Hvar, one of the warmest and sunniest islands in the Adriatic spreading over micro localities of Sveti Nikola and Medvid bod. Soil structure ranges from limestone pebble, white sand with small percentage of red soil, giving an ideal nutrition source to indigenous varieties such as Mali Plavac, Drnekusa, Parac, Kuc, Bogdanusa and Marastina. The proverbial minimalism on the labels. Laganini, MMX on the front label, red wine, alcohol, capacity and address on the back. Winemaker from Hvar, Ivo Duboković educated red wine where alcohol doesnt reach more than 11.5. Laganini is named after that excellence. Laganini on Croatian means something like With ease. Winemaker wanted to communicate that this wine can be drank with ease because of the small alcohol percentage. Variety is pure Darnekuša, one hundred percent. And in our renowned wine lexicons it is said for Drnekuša: variety insufficiently tested. Traditionally, Darnekuša is mixed with the plavac mali, and Ivo was interested in pure varietal characteristics and position Svirče. And that gave us a wine with seductive aroma of strawberries and ripe cherries, seasoned with Mediterranean herbs.
