Akrathos means "near Athos" and one can, indeed, see that 2033 metre high holy mountain from its vineyards. We're in Halkidiki in central Macedonia here where the climate is very much maritime, with the sea's influence moderating summer torridity. Akrathos' organic vineyards were planted around 2011 and major on the white Assyrtiko, plus red varieties in the form of Agiorgitiko and Xinomavro. They also grow a little Malagousia, newly planted and not yet commercialised. Vineyards soils (shallow sandy loam with slate subsoil) are full of minerals and vines are planted at altitude (550-700m) meaning that the Assyrtiko here is the last to be picked in Greece. This is a brand new winery and this is their first commercialised vintage.
