Floc de Gascogne is prepared according to an ancient local tradition and is a continuation of a recipe dating back to the 17th century that the wine-growers of the time produced for the nobility.
This white or rosé liqueur wine (16/17 % Vol) is made by muting unfermented wine (grape juice) and selected armagnacs with a minimum alcohol strength of 52 % Vol., all from the best « Bas-Armagnac vineyards.
The grape juice : the fine quality of the fleur d’armagnac is obtained from unfermented wine containing a minimum of 170 g. of sugar per litre, the sugar being added either prior to fermentation or at the very beginning of the process in order to ensure improved alcohol-sugar balance.
This liqueur wine blend was then aged for a few months in oak casks before bottling.
Blending the fruit of these vines (50 % Tannat, 45 % Cabernet and 10 % Merlot) confers its purple colour to the Floc rose and ensures it also has a raspberry bouquet and a taste reminiscent of berries.
