Great and very exclusive Pinot Noir from the La Literna series from Bemberg Estate. La Literna means the lantern, and this name is actually telling. It guarantees a very accurate search - with a lantern - for the very best and most extraordinary vineyards. This search takes you on an imaginary journey through the Andes (from north to south) that winemaker Daniel Pi and the Bemberg family have carried out with great passion. The La Literna wines all represent the great diversity that can be seen in Argentina.

This 100% pinot noir comes from the micro-terroir "Finca Las Piedras" located at 1,300m above sea level in the district of Los Árboles in the Uco Valley. It is located at the foot of the promontory in a small alluvial range created by the Olmo stream, the second branch of the Las Tunas River, which transfers the water to the Tunuyan River. The soil of the micro-terroir consists of silt sand soil with 3% clay, 90% sand and 7% limestone and is structured in layers. Harvesting is done manually and only the best rows of the plot are selected, after which a further classification takes place later in the basement.

The fermentation process starts in 60 hl French oak barrels. The fermentation process, exclusively with naturally occurring yeasts, starts after 15% of the grapes, still in the whole bunches, are laid on the soil, after which the remaining 85% loose grapes are placed on top. During the process, battonage (stirring) takes place 3 times a day. After this, the malolactic conversion takes place and the wine ages for another 12 months in new French oak barrels. Finally, bottling is carried out without stabilizing or filtering to maintain the exceptional character of the wine.

This wine is fragrant and beautiful with the youthful vibrancy of ripe red cherry, raspberry and plum. Attractive floral aromas of red roses and violets blend beautifully with delicate notes of herbs, lavender, wild ruccola and an underlying scent of spicy nutmeg and orange peel. Fine acidity, light mineral, calcareous texture and fine-grained elegant tannin structure that allows complex development in the bottle. When the wine opens in the glass, the potential is further confirmed by the earthy, forest-like underlying layers. This wine immediately demands your attention and seduces with its scent and tension. The wine combines delicate with structured, soft power. A layered, modest beauty that is waiting to be discovered.

This beautiful wine has an aging potential of 15 years. Note from the winemaker: " After a certain time, small natural sediments could be found in the wine, but these do not affect the properties of the wine."

Also very interesting to watch the video of winemaker Daniel Pi, specifically about this micro-terroir Pinot Noir.

Bemberg Estate Wines is located in the Argentinian wine region of Mendoza , the region with the largest area of wine-growing land in Argentina. The winery owns around 3,200 hectares of vineyards and has been producing great wines for years and is always passionate about further development. That is how the Bemberg family came up with the idea of selecting the very best vineyards together with Daniel Pi, who was named Best Argentinian Winemaker, and turned them into phenomenal wines. These single vineyards wines represent beautiful micro-terroirs in different regions of Argentina. The numbers produced were not large, so the family decided to keep them for their own use. However, when the wines turned out to be of very good quality, it was nevertheless decided to not only keep these exclusive wines for themselves, but also to put them on the market. Immediately at the launch, James Suckling gave this wine 95 points: Ripe but fresh red cherries, wild strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, three spices and even some meaty elements. Smoky. Pomace. Medium to full body, plenty of red fruit, round tannins and a complete finish. "
