This story began more than half a century ago in Cupramontana, in the heart of Verdicchio Classico. Today the wine estate Umani Ronchi is in the hands of the Bianchi-Bernetti family. Three wine zones - Castelli di Jesi, Conero and Abruzzo - and numerous vineyards are spread over 10 districts. A total of 210 hectares have been planted with Verdicchio and Montepulciano, which are best reflected in Marche and Abruzzo. The 185 km of vines are nestled between the hills and the Adriatic coast, each with its unique properties and terroir. Umani Ronchi has doubled his estate and replanted 85% of his old vines since the 1970s. They have invested in Verdicchio and Rosso Conero and restored the Pecorino and Lacrima di Morro d'Alba varieties. Moreover, their vineyards are all organically processed. This is more a technical decision than an ideological consideration. The vines thrive in such a way that there is room for a viticulture that gets the best out of the grapes without sacrificing the quality of the wines.

The Umani Ronchi Cumaro Conero Riservais a 100% Montepulciano. The vines are planted on limestone and clay soil and the vineyard is in the municipality of Osima and is located southeastern at an altitude of 150 meters. The vineyards are sheltered and have sea views which explains the unique and fresh character and elegant character of this beautiful red wine. The grapes are picked by hand from mid to late October. The alcoholic fermentation takes place for 12-14 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in barriers of 225 liters for 12-14 months. After bottling, the wine rests for another 8 months in the bottle.

The Umani Ronchi Cumaro Conero Riserva has a beautiful ruby red color with in the nose beautiful notes of ripe plums, black currants, cherries, spices and vanilla. The onset is soft and mouth-filling, followed by a long, intense aftertaste with soft tannins. The Cumaro gets quite rightly always rave reviews from the international wine press among others.
