The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravelly Meadow (Grainy Meadow) shines with on the palate layers of dark red fruit, mocha, sweet herbs, flowers and herbs. The Gravelly Meadow is surprisingly accessible for a young Diamond Creek wine. There are still plenty of underlying tannins with ints of raspberry jam, cinnamon and cloves. Earthy, cedar, jammy and ripe blackberries with a spicy expansive finish. The advice is to let this wine mature for a few years to allow the wine to reach full maturity. We can leave it until at least 2040 but we do not have that patience.
The Gravelly Meadow comes from a five-hectare gritty terroir. Originally it was a pre-historic riverbed where the vines currently compete for moisture and have to root very deeply. Gravelly Meadow is the vineyard of Diamond Creek with the lowest yield
