The vineyards of Chateau La Favière are located in Saint-Seurin sur l'Isle, on the border of the Saint-Emilion vineyard in the Libourne region of the Gironde department. The vineyard is 21 hectares in size and is managed using environmentally-friendly wine-growing techniques. The oldest vines are more than 50 years old; the average age is around 35 years. The soil consists of alternating layers of gravel and fine sand over a clay substrate, which ensures optimum drainage.

The grapes are picked manually at full ripeness, one parcel at a time, taking into account the characteristics of the micro terroirs. Subsequently, selective vinification takes place per parcel: maceration and 72 hours of cold pre-fermentation, long fermentation period (more than 3 weeks) alternately in cement and wooden barrels. The malo-lactic fermentation is done directly in the barrel after which the wine further matures for 12 months in oak barrels of which 50% new French oak

This beautiful Bordeaux Superieur is a blend of the typical bordeaux grapes namely: Merlot: 60%. Cabernet Franc: 30%. Cabernet sauvignon: 10%. In the glass the wine has a generous and deep red color with a great precision in the nose where elegant, ripe berries and cherry go perfectly with the autumnal scent of scrubland. In the mouth, the wine is initially supple but strong, but then develops into (red) fruit, freshness with fine-grained well-integrated tannins, but at the same time it remains soft and silky. In the finish, the wine is perfectly balanced with supple and broad tannins, with a pleasantly long finish. Just a very nice glass of wine and, unlike many good bordeaux, still very nice in terms of price. De La Favière has also received very good reviews from the international wine press.

A great prize-winning very affordable burgundy from the beautiful year of 2015
