El Velado is an old and beautiful vineyard at an altitude of 800 meters. It is the first vineyard of which we are fascinated by Lanciego and the one that is probably the best expression of the beauty and individuality of this place. El Velado was planted in the eastern part of the city of Lanciego, and for the most part it is oriented to the west and south, enjoying a warmer light. Because of this exposure, the traditional inoculation was usually done with Garnacha and Tempranillo and with some other old varieties, including some white ones. Only 507 bottles have been produced from this special wine. Matured in oak barrel for 16 months.

What makes Telmo Rodrigues wines unique is that they opt for native grape varieties that are also pruned in an indigenous way. As a result, on their vineyards the vines are not guided along long threads but as an independent shrub. Telmo also chooses to set bushes wider apart. This way has the advantage that a shrub has more options to find scarce moisture / food, but there is also more shade and also leads to healthier shrubs and this fits in with Telmo Rodriguez's biological approach.
