Organic and very remarkable Pinot Noir from Chile, of which only 8,000 bottles are made. This wine received rave reviews including 94+ Parker points which this wine describes as "a pure Pinot Noir that slowly opens in the glass to an intoxicating mixture of wild flowers and herbs with a rustic touch. In the mouth fine-grained tannins, a hint of rusticity , an earthy touch and a long adronk " .
This wine comes from the Montsecano winery located in the Valle de Casablanca in the famous wine region of Aconcagua, one of the 4 major wine regions in Chile . Montsecano was founded in 2003 by Julio Donoso, supported by 3 friends (the photographer Álvaro Yáñez, Javier de la Fuente and the famous winemaker from Alsace, André Ostertag). With their 7 hectares of vineyards and their completely ecological and biodynamic working method, almost exclusively focused on the Pinot Noir variety, they have managed to produce some wonderful wines. 2016 was a very good year for Montsecano. In that year André Ostertag received the help of his son Arthur, who brought some new ideas such as the use of around 20% full clusters and the use of 2 or 3 presses. In that challenging year they were able to harvest all grapes before the rains. All in all, 2016 makes one of the best volumes of Montsecano.
The vines for this Pinot Noir were planted in 2006 in Las Dichas, about 11 km from the sea. The soil consists of red clay and granite. The wine does not get wood aging but ferments on stainless steel with naturally occurring yeasts and is then stored in egg-shaped cement barrels until bottling.
This beautiful wine has fine aromas of ripe red fruit (strawberries and sour cherries) with floral notes, jasmine and a mineral background reminiscent of some Pinots from Burgundy. In the mouth beautiful notes of red fruit with a spicy, spicy touch. The wine is unfiltered, decanting is recommended. Serve at 15-16 ° C. Tastes great as an accompaniment to roasted red meat and grilled vegetables.
