The Weingut Dr Loosen Riesling Trocken has a clear, straw-yellow color in the glass. In the nose aromas of grapefruit, pear and something of mandarin. In the taste palette tones of lemon peel, apple and a hint of passion fruit, accompanied by nervous fresh acids in the aftertaste.

Vinification
At the end of September the grapes are picked by hand with the greatest care. After direct pneumatic pressing, the juice in the vinification cellar is subjected to a temperature-controlled (18 ° C) alcoholic fermentation on stainless steel tanks. The wine is then transferred to clean stainless steel tanks, in which only part of the malolactic fermentation takes place, followed by ripening on the 'lie' for a few months. This is followed by the assembly of the wine, clearance, light filtering and bottling.

Culinary Advice
Ideal as an aperitif and with oysters, mussels, shrimps, sauerkraut, chicken, quiches, asparagus, young goat cheese and sushi and sashimi.

The domain Dr. Loosen has been in the same family for more than 200 years. When Ernst Loosen took over the helm in 1988, he came into possession of very special vines with an average age of more than 60 years! A part of the vineyards itself consists of grafted sticks of more than 120 years old! To be able to produce world-class wines, Ernst Loosen drastically reduced the yield per hectare and immediately stopped the systematic chemical fertilization of the vineyards. Since then, only natural fertilizers have been used in small quantities. The biggest revolution took place in the wine cellars, where everything was set up to treat the grapes, must and wines as gently as possible, in order to fully preserve the essence of terroir and grape. The Riesling prevails in the vineyards as a unique grape. It comes in various forms, from dry to noble sweet, from elegant and light to full and ultra-concentrated, depending on the harvest time, the age of the vines, the ripening stage of the grapes, the presence or absence of noble rot (botrytis), the terroir and of course, the harvest year. The bottom of dr. Loosen vineyards consist of a rock-hard slate substrate that forces the roots to go deep in search of water, minerals and nutrition. The location of the vineyards on the extremely steep, south-facing slopes on the banks of the Mosel is ideal for a slow, perfect ripening. The grapes were basically bathing three times in the sun, directly and reflected off the stone bottom and the river. Dr.'s vineyards Loosen is located along the lazily swinging Mosel, between Bernkastel and Kindel, with world-famous names such as Bernkasteler Lay, Dr. Loosen, Graacher Himmelreich, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Urziger Würzgarten, Erdener Prälat and Erdener Treppchen.
