Albert drives up to 40,000km every year between a plethora of vineyards in the Cape, sourcing only the very best grapes for his growing range of tiny-batch wines. He was the winemaker at Lammershoek at the dawn of the Swartland Revolution; since then Albert has remained under the radar building his own projects, while also gaining experience abroad in Priorat, the Rhône valley and Champagne.
This is a skin-contact white wine (aka orange wine) from a Grenache Gris vineyard planted in 2008, harvested early in the hot 2016 vintage to keep things fresh. Fermented naturally on skins for several days prior to pressing, then nearly a year on the lees, maturing in old French oak barrels. Give it time to open up and reveal its brilliant charms. This is so elegant, floral and intriguingly textured. It also looks utterly stunning! Just 360 bottles made, and a mere 60 found their way to the UK.
